AS FUNERAL DIRECTORS, OUR PRIMARY ROLE IS TO WORK WITH YOU AS A FAMILY AS YOU PREPARE TO SAY THE FINAL GOODBYE TO YOUR LOVED ONE.
First Steps
We are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days of the year.
Preparing to Say the Final Goodbye
This involves:
Respecting the wishes of you and the deceased as well as any religious or cultural requirements.
Providing you with the information you require to decide what type of funeral you would like for your loved one.
Caring for the remains of your loved one in a dignified and respectful manner.
Enabling you, your family and your friends to view your loved one’s remains as and when you would like.
Making the funeral and committal arrangements on your behalf which includes obtaining official certificates and permits as required.
Making any other arrangements you would like us to make such as placing death notices, organising refreshments or a meal for family and friends after the funeral, accepting and handing over charitable donations, memorial cards, headstones or seeking permission to scatter ashes at a particular place.
Providing you with an itemised list of costs and seeking your approval for additional costs in advance of them being incurred.
WHETHER THE DEATH OF A LOVED ONE IS ANTICIPATED OR UNEXPECTED, THERE ARE A NUMBER OF THINGS THAT MUST BE DONE FOLLOWING A DEATH IN IRELAND.
What to do when someone dies
Immediately following the death, you should notify the next of kin, the deceased’s family doctor (GP) and the Registrar of Births, Marriages and Deaths. You should also notify a funeral director, who will help you with the funeral arrangements and guide you through the decisions which need to be made.
Visiting the Deceased
THE CHOICE OF WHERE THE REMAINS OF YOUR LOVED ONE SHOULD REPOSE IS ENTIRELY YOURS.
Each of our funeral homes has a Chapel of Rest available for your exclusive use as and when required. Families are encouraged to bring personal items such as framed photographs and other things which reflect your loved one’s hobbies and interests.
